Honey, carrots, banana, and blueberry all blended to provide you with a delicious morning smoothie! I had so much fun creating my last drink inspired by a band that I’m planning on making it a monthly post! Each month, I’ll pick a band I’m currently listening to and make a drink inspired by their band name, album title, or song title.
I wish I was better about describing music, but here it goes. Spirit of the Beehive lyrics are a bit muddy and they have really great instrumentals. I’d say they sound similar to Ovlov, who I’ve mentioned in my favorite albums of 2018.
On to the smoothie.
I was first inspired to make this smoothie when I had a similar one at Aladdin’s Eatery. Their menu consists of Lebanese food and they’re based around healthier food – no french fries here. It was a carrot smoothie and I was surprised it tasted so good with such limited ingredients.
The drink is simple to make. You’ll want to remember to freeze your bananas the night before so your smoothie is creamy. You just add the carrots, banana, honey (it’s named Spirit of the Beehive after-all), and cinnamon. Then you mix half the smoothie with strawberries and blueberries. The colors are so perfect! I wasn’t sure what kind of color the blueberries would add, but it turned out to be a great contrast.
I love the way the smoothie turned out – taste and looks. Originally I wanted to just layer the mixed colors. Since they were both around the same consistency, they just kind of combined together. Then I realized if you run your spoon vertically inside touching the glass you get this really awesome marbling effect!
It was so easy and it looks fancy. Perfect to impress your friends at brunch.
If you make this Spirit of the Beehive smoothie, be sure to leave a comment. I love hearing your thoughts and suggestions!
