Happy Junior Friday! Also known as Thursday to some people. You should start your weekend early and make this drink tonight. After all practice makes perfect, gotta test out the drink before you share it with friends! And it’s summer, which is notorious for being more carefree. Do you work at a lucky job with ‘Friday Summer Hours’? Some jobs let their employees leave early on Friday to enjoy the summer days. Lucky people!
This drink truly represents the simplicity of ingredients. There’s only 3 ingredients: honey, fresh grapefruit juice, and whiskey. Each flavor goes together great and your friends will think you spent way more than 3 minutes making this.
The recipe follows your basic cocktail steps. Rim the inside of the glass, then shake ice with whiskey & grapefruit, and pour into glass.
It’s all about using the shaker. I know it’s tempting to just stir everything and call it a day but trust me on this one! It creates a great foam and you want to make sure that the citrus evenly mixes with the liquor. Nothing too complicated, just shake the drink for 5 seconds and strain.
Have you ever had a drink with egg whites? I’ve only tried one once and I didn’t love it. I think because I knew there were raw egg whites, I just kept overthinking it. I can’t imagine that shaking a cocktail for 30 seconds cooks the egg whites. I’ve been too leery to try making my own, but one day I may try another egg white cocktail!
My favorite part about the drink is the minimal ingredients and each one gets their time to shine! If you can, you should garnish your drink with a grapefruit twist. That was my first idea, but I think I need some practice! My twist might not have been long enough because it looked pretty lame, more like a grapefruit stripe. Oh well.
Shake away, you’re less than 3 minutes from the perfect cocktail!
